Wierzch skrzydeł samca złocistoczerwony z z wąską, czarną obwódką. Wierzch skrzydeł samicy pomarańczowy z przepaskami z ciemnych plamek. Spód skrzydeł ochrowożółty, na tylnym skrzydle w przepasce środkowej występują białe plamki. Similar species: Lycaena dispar Lycaena hippothoe Lycaena alciphron Lycaena tityrus
	30-34 mm

Additional information
	Motyle żywią się nektarem różnych kwiatów - m.in. ostów, lebiodek, kozłków. Często wygrzewa się w słońcu.
	Gąsienice zamieniają się w brązowe, ciemno cętkowane poczwarki w pobliżu roślin żywicielskich.
	Samica składa jaja pojedynczo na liściach szczawiów.
